Diamond Solitaire Rings
A diamond solitaire remains the classic choice of engagement rings. The elegant simplicity of a single diamond is a perfect expression of love and marriage.
While every diamond solitaire ring features a single stone, there are many choices of band styles and widths, You will also want to make a careful choice of your diamond carat weight, clarity and color.
Here are some tips on how to choose the perfect diamond solitaire ring:
- How to choose your diamond band width and style: if your diamond is 1/2 carat or smaller, choosing a thinner band will help to emphasize the center stone. Our classic four prong band is a perfect choice of diamond engagement ring settings. The smaller band widths also complement a woman with delicate slender fingers. For a bolder look, choose from our Designer Fancy settings that feature over 100 band styles.
- White Gold, Yellow Gold or Platinum Band? All of our solitaire ring settings are available in white or yellow gold as well as platinum. A platinum band is a perfect match for a high quality diamond, since it is the most rare and valued metal. Platinum also weighs considerably more than gold, so the band has a more solid feel. The choice of white or yellow gold is a matter of preference and fashion for most women. One detail to keep in mind is that a lower color diamond (H and below) will tend to look better in yellow gold. If you are buying a high color diamond (G or above) white gold will accentuate the beauty and brilliance of your stone.
- How To Choose Your Diamond: every woman wants a solitaire ring with the largest most brilliant diamond at the lowest price. The beauty of a diamond comes from it's brilliance and fire, the amount of light that it returns to the viewer's eye. Of all the grading categories, it is the Diamond Cut that produces its beauty. In a side by side comparison, a less expensive diamond of Excellent Cut grade will far outshine a diamond of higher Color and Clarity with a Poor, Good or Fair Cut grade. The second most important characteristic to look at is Diamond Clarity. A Clarity Grade of I1 or lower will result in flaws that are visible to the naked eye. Diamond Clarity Grades of SI2 and higher will have flaws that can only be seen under magnification. Finally, it is also important to consider the Diamond Color Grade. Colorless (D-E-F) Diamonds appear very white to the eye, and the upper grades of Near Colorless (G-H) Diamonds also appear white to the eye. Color Grades of I and J will have a very faint yellowish cast. Any Diamond Color that is K or below will be noticeably yellow in your solitaire ring.
